Bank station shut down in morning rush hour
March 26th at 8.15am peak rush hour time, commuters were asked to evacuate Bank and Monument station. Police flooded the streets and platforms with subdued faces and little information. There was chaos as hundreds of commuters struggled to make their way towards several exits.
The streets suddenly swelled as many tried to make their way to Tower Hill.
Tower Gateway DLR service almost grounded to a halt as the people flooded onto the platform causing new safety fears.
There has been no explaination yet for the shut down of one of the busiest stations in London. The repeating recorded voice over the tannoi said it all.
"Will all customers evacuate Bank/Monument station immediately. This is due to an emergency situation.
Only one thing springs to mind.
