Young Hippo Leaves Home After A Row Over With Father

report photo

A young 4 year old hippo has left his home in Rondevlei Nature Reserve in Cape Town in 2009 after a clash with his father.

He has since been living in sewerage water works in Cape Town. According to Reserve staff this kind of behaviour was normal as the male leader of the herd will always chase other younger male hippos away.

However the Reserve staffs has successfully captured the hippo and has transferred him to a private Reserve in Worcester.
