Greg Akcelrod has accepted the appointment as a Special Representative for Livestrong. As Livestrong Special Representative, Greg Akcelrod will raise awareness on Cancer with an emphasis on youth and sport.

Greg Akcelrod has previously been involved in charity events and fund raising. Mr. Akcelrod has played in various top football clubs. Through his achievement in the world of sport Mr. Akcelrod is a role model for many young people and his engagement with Livestrong will help carry out messages on prevention and support in Cancer issues.

Cancer is everyone's business. Sport and especially football can help break social barriers and fight cancer," said Mr. Akcelrod. "Through sport young people can become more self-confident . I want today's youth to know the facts about Cancer. In my new role as Livestrong Special Representative, I will help save lives by engaging the sports world to take action against Cancer."

According to Livestrong, by 2010, cancer is projected to become the leading cause of death worldwide. It’s a shocking and needless fact - 30 percent of cancers are preventable, and another one-third of cancers are treatable if detected early.
