Joint decision: Is the government mistaken?

Cannabis is widely recognised as less dangerous than legal drugs such as alcohol & tobacco but is now in the same category as crystal meth, ketamine and speed! COME ON!!

Though there were many in favour of such a move, i think it's worth mentioning that the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs - the independent scientific panel which advises the government- strongly opposed this move.

Reclassifying cannabis as class B makes a mockery of the entire ABC system as it is quite clear the vast majority of those who have taken the drug - including current home secretary Jacqui Smith, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to name a few - suffer little or no ill effects from doing so.

The gov't has made another classic U-turn in reclassifying cannabis as a class B drug, begging the question: what were they smoking when they decided to lower it in 2004?
