Unprecedented plans to give Civil Servants and Government agencies the power to revoke people’s driving licences and passports without going through the courts will be unveiled this week.

Work and pensions secretary James Purnell will announce the far reaching proposals on Tuesday 27 January. It will serve as a crackdown on absent fathers who REFUSE to pay for the upkeep of their children. He says;

“For those who choose not to support their own kids, we will not stand by and do nothing. If a parent refuses to pay up, then we will stop them travelling abroad or even using their car.”

Currently the CMEC (Child Maintenance & Enforcement Commission) established last year in response to the incompetent CSA (Child Support Agency) have to apply to the courts when they want to punish absent parents by cancelling their drivers licence or passport.

As usual, civil liberty campaigners are up in arms labelling the plans as draconian and in breach of human rights legislation - but I say “IF YOU DO THE DEED & PLANT THE SEED - PAY UP!”

I trust that this is no hare-brained proposal and that a trial or some sort of pilot scheme will be implemented as a vehicle ban could affect a man’s ability to hold down a job if he was by trade a carpenter , plumber or electrician. Iam sure this punishment will be reached after a rigorous decision process.

Remember, these proposals are to ‘tackle’ fathers who REFUSE to pay for the maintenance of their child. Let’s not confuse it with the issues some men face about being the father, (paternity tests pending) , rights to access, parental rights (within reason) etc…
