New York Times Editor bans writers from using the word “Tweet”.

New York Times editor Phil Corbett has banned his writers from using the word Tweet, as it is not a Standard English word.

Apparently the word has appeared 18 times in the articles from last month, and he thinks that it is silly than inappropriate. However he believes it will be a widely acknowledged word in the future like e-mail but until then he has also banned the writers from using other internet jargons such as

Google - The search engine
Lol - Laugh out loud
Vlog - A blog that contains video material
BFF - Best friends forever
Unfriend - To stop following someone on a social networking website
Like - To show you like someone's comment or photo on Facebook
Tweetup - To use Twitter to organise meeting up
Hashtag - Used to denote a topic on Twitter
@ Reply - The @ symbol is used to reply to a Twitter user
Newsfeed - The latest news in chronological order
