Britney Spears's forthcoming single 'If U Seek Amy' is facing a US radio ban over its controversial lyrics.

Radio stations have deemed the track too offense to broadcast due to its chorus "all of the boys and all of the girls are beggin' to, If You Seek Amy", the last four words of which sound like "F.*.*.K me" when sung quickly.

"It's OK to put in on an album, have fun with it, but we're publicly owned, you know?" Patti Marshall of Cincinnati's Q102 told MTV.

"We have a responsibility to the public, you put this... out and act like we're all fuddy-duddies, like we're trying to make moral judgments.

"It's not about us. It's about the mom in the minivan with her eight-year-old."

An Australian mother's group recently branded the song "horrifying" and "objectionable".

Spears releases new single 'Circus' in the UK on February 16.
