Skills London is the UK's largest interactive event providing teens with career information and advice.

Today, a few of my friends and I went along to ExCel to visit the Skills London event. I'd heard about it thanks to a handy little leaflet that appeared through our postbox sometime in October, and, seeing how school is driving us all mad with careers and university options, we thought it might help. The venue itself was huge, with a multitude of different stalls and exhibits from firms and colleges. It was interactive, so not boring, and the people were helpful and friendly. My only criticism would have to be that it was not really geared towards my friends and I, who intend to complete our school careers and university degrees. I would also have liked to have found out more about the more well-known and renowned universities(Cambridge, Oxford, Nottingham, Bristol, etc.) Despite this, it was a fun day. We went intending to spend an hour or so browsing the stalls and seeing what was on offer, but ended up there for around three hours, and came home with piles of pens, post-it notes and brochures.

So overall, I give Skills London the thumbs up. The freebies were certainly a plus, though perhaps employing some female security guards would stop the sexist vibe we were given as only the boys were searched upon entry?
