THE RAVENSCROFT SCHOOL CREATE A BIG STIR FOR MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

report photo

The Ravenscroft School created a huge stir with their Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning on Friday 26th September 2008 raising in excess of £500 which will help Macmillan provide much needed support to people affected by cancer.

Staff and students were able to enjoy cakes for a donation and fresh coffee was served in the staff room by members of the Vocational Education Faculty.

Year 13 Health and Social Care students used the event to raise awareness within the school community of the work that Macmillan Cancer Support carries out with those with cancer and those supporting them as part of their GCE course.

Ciaran Devane, Macmillan’s Chief Executive said, ‘I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Ravenscroft School’s students and staff for taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support. By simply having a cup of coffee or a cake, they have helped us to improve the lives of more people affected by cancer.’

The Health and Social Care students from left to right: Katrina Ocana, Jennie Tilley (Health and Social Care teacher), Faye Evans, Dilan Kurt, Dilem Kurt and Halima Ali (kneeling) are pictured above.

Really good to see the kids get involved with charity projects. Helps them realise how lucky they are!
