Hi Heena,

I understand exactly what you are saying. This is a very tricky situation for many teachers. I am a Student Governor for an FE College and I get to talk to teachers/lecturers all the time.

The problem is that teachers are in a vulnerable situation and the government know this and that is why they undermine you with your wages.

I spoke to one Tutor and she said that she could not go on the strike because the Students were more important and exams are not far away.

I think that every teacher should go on that strike, although there are issues involved for many regarding unions; if you are not being treated fairly, then you have to do what is right for you.

And also, if a union discriminates you for your view or actions on this matter, then you are simply with the wrong union and should consider finding a new one.

I believe that every teacher should send a large message to this joke of a government. Last year it was the Police, this year it is teachers, what will it be next year? Politicians?

Good on you for what you say.

Many do not consider all the factors and it's good that you are putting them out.
